I.R.L.P. OPERATING PRIMERTo connect to another node tune to the frequency above (while in Moreno Valley). There is no offset on this node, it operates simplex. You will use the DTMF tones on your radio to enter the 4 digit number of the node you want to connect to. (To learn about where each node number is located, click here or on the link above to go to www.irlp.net). You don't need to connect to 3937, that is the node in Moreno Valley you will be using to link to other nodes. On the frequency shown above, key down and dial the 4 digit number of the node you wish to connect to, then un-key and wait for the a message. If your connection was successful you will hear the other node's greeting message. If the other node is busy, you will receive a message stating so. Once connected to another node wait at least 5 seconds after the greeting message before keying down to make sure there is not conversation already in progress on the node you connect to. Sometimes you'll be connecting to a repeater, other times you may be connecting to a simplex station. It depends on the equipment at the node to which you connect. When the QSO is handed back to you, wait 5 seconds again before transmitting. This is particularly critical when connected to a reflector. No station can disconnect while someone else is transmitting on a reflector. Waiting 5 seconds gives others time to disconnect. After you key down, wait at least 1 second before talking. This allows time for the internet to key the other node's transmitter. To disconnect simply key down, dial 73 and un-key. You will then hear the other node's disconnect message. |
